Google review backup for every review you've earned
GBPilot keeps a copy of each review it syncs from your Business Profile. When one disappears from Google, you see which one, when it went, how it moved your rating, and what to do next.

Key takeaways
- Every sync compares your reviews with what Google shows and records any that are missing, with the date.
- The review's text, rating, reviewer name and dates stay in your account while it's active.
- You're alerted when a review is removed, with a separate urgent alert when several go in one sync.
- Each removed review comes with a follow-up checklist and draft messages for the customer or Google support.
- Google doesn't share removal reasons. We show a best guess from your sync history and label it that way.
How it works
How Google review backup works
- 01
Connect your profile
Sign in with the Google account that manages your Business Profile. We import every review Google currently returns.
- 02
Sync on a schedule
Turn on daily auto-sync at the hour you choose, or sync whenever you like from the reviews page.
- 03
Missing reviews get flagged
If a review we've seen before isn't returned by Google, it's marked removed with the date and you're alerted.
- 04
Decide what to do
Open the review to see the likely cause, a short checklist, and drafts for a repost request or a support message.
The problem
Why do Google reviews disappear?
Google reviews disappear for a handful of reasons. Spam filters remove reviews they judge to be fake, the reviewer deletes or edits their review, the reviewer's account is suspended, or the profile itself is suspended, reinstated or merged. Google says some legitimate reviews are removed by mistake, and it doesn't tell the business which reason applied.
That's why so many owners only notice when the review count drops. Without a record of what was there, you can't tell which reviews went, when, or whether they were the good ones.
Spam filters
A burst of reviews in a short period, or reviews from accounts Google doesn't trust.
Reviewer action
The customer deleted the review, or their Google account was suspended or closed.
Profile changes
Suspension and reinstatement, merged listings, or big edits to the business details.
Reports
Someone flagged the review and Google agreed it broke policy.
Bugs
Google has acknowledged incidents where legitimate reviews were removed in error.
What we keep
What does GBPilot save when a review is removed?
We keep the review as it was the last time Google returned it: the text, star rating, reviewer's display name, the date it was posted, your reply, and when we first and last saw it. When it disappears we add the removal date, and if it comes back later we mark it restored and alert you.
| What | Kept by GBPilot |
|---|---|
| Review text and star rating | Yes |
| Reviewer display name | Yes |
| Your public reply | Yes |
| Posted, first seen, last seen and removal dates | Yes |
| Google's reason for the removal | Not available, because Google doesn't share it |
Alerts
How do removed-review alerts work?
When a sync finds a review missing, you get a notification in GBPilot. A missing 4- or 5-star review is marked high priority, since that's the one you'll want back. If several reviews vanish in the same sync, you get one urgent alert instead of many, because that pattern usually points to a Google filter sweep.
- High priority when a 4- or 5-star review goes missing
- One urgent alert when several go in the same sync
Follow-up
What can you do about a removed Google review?
It depends on the review. If a genuine positive review is gone, you can ask the customer, neutrally, whether they'd share their experience again, and ask Google support to check for a mistaken removal. If it went after you reported it, there's nothing to do. GBPilot shows the right steps for each case and drafts the messages.
- Lost a good review: a neutral note to the customer, then a support request with the dates.
- Removed after your report: confirm it's gone. We'll alert you if it comes back.
- Reported but still live: a one-time appeal through Google's Reviews Management Tool.
- Track each follow-up. If the review returns, the next sync closes it for you.
Honest limits
Can GBPilot restore deleted Google reviews?
No, and no other tool can either. Only Google decides what appears on your profile. What GBPilot gives you is the record: every review you've earned, the date it went missing, and how much it moved your rating. That record is what you need to make a clear case to Google support or to the customer.
