Insights history

Google Business Profile insights history past the 18-month cut-off

Google's performance reports only reach back about 18 months. GBPilot imports what's there when you connect, then stores every new day, so last year's numbers are still there next year.

Key takeaways

  • Google's Performance API returns about 18 months of daily metrics. Anything older is no longer available from Google.
  • GBPilot imports those 18 months on day one and stores each new day after that.
  • We keep calls, website clicks, direction requests, messages, bookings and profile views from Search and Maps.
  • Search keyword data is stored month by month, including low-volume terms Google only reports as a range.
  • Every geo-grid rank scan is kept too, so your rank history and traffic history line up.

    We import what Google has

Straight away we pull the daily history Google still holds, which is about the last 18 months.

  3. 03

    Every night we add more

Each night we fetch the newest days and refresh the past week, because Google fills in recent data late.

Switch the insights page to all time and view every day or month since you connected, plus the backfill.

Google's limit

How far back do Google Business Profile insights go?

About 18 months. Google's Business Profile Performance API returns a rolling window of roughly 18 months of daily metrics, and its reference documentation doesn't promise more. Each day, the oldest day in that window drops off. Data older than that can't be downloaded from Google, so anything nobody saved is gone.

Use the calculator to see how much of your own profile's history is still available.

When did your profile start getting views?

Use the month you verified the profile or opened the business. A rough date is fine.

40 months of insights already gone

What we keep

What insights does GBPilot keep?

We store every daily metric we pull from Google's Performance API: calls, website clicks, direction requests, messages, bookings, and profile views split into Search and Maps on desktop and mobile. We also keep monthly search keyword counts. Nothing is deleted on our side while your account is active, so the history keeps growing.

Why it matters

Why keep more than 18 months of insights?

Because most business questions need a year-ago comparison. Is this December busier than last December? Did calls drop after a competitor opened nearby, or is it just the season? With only 18 months from Google you lose part of that baseline every month. Keeping your own history means you can answer with real numbers.

  • Compare this December with every December you've kept.
  • Tell a seasonal dip from a real drop.

For agencies

How does insights history help agencies?

It keeps the proof of your work. From the day you connect a client's profile, their history builds up in your workspace instead of sliding out of Google's window. Reports can show where a profile started, what you changed, and how calls and clicks moved over a full year and beyond.
